Event Date:
September 10, 2022
Event Time:
10:30 am
Event Location:
MCEFT Zoom Room
This popular online series offers the opportunity for you to watch and discuss a real couple case, presented by a member of our peer community. MCEFT warmly welcomes Lisa Bordas as our third presenter for 2022.
Couple Presentation
Lisa will present a couple who have recently moved in together to create a blended family. Pushing to sow the seeds of safety in their relationship and for their children, reveals the ghosts of abandonment and neglect. Working with this couple presents the challenge and reward of establishing the working alliance in the face of a volatile negative cycle. Stabilisation involves the radical acceptance of leaning into the experience of emotion and its inherent challenge for both.
This case reminds us to trust the language of seeding attachment in the face of panic and the necessity of trusting the couples’ moves towards safety and growth outside the therapy room.
About Lisa
Lisa is qualified as a counselling psychologist with 25 yrs of experience in working with individuals, couples and the odd family. She has worked in the youth sector, employment sector, defence sector and more recently, the private sector. It was working with couples in the veteran community, on week-long couple retreats, that she witnessed the power of harnessing emotional awareness and healing in the context of military PTSD.
This led to learning about EFT in her final post-graduate year and years later, pursuing her passion further by enrolling in an externship in 2016. Since then, Lisa has maintained her connection to the Melbourne community of MCEFT and supervision with Linda Murrow. She looks forward to finally completing certification later this year.
