This workshop will focus on using the transformative power of the present moment to “catch” conscious and unconscious processes as they unfold live in session. Learning these interventions enables therapists to help couples shift out of their heads and into their hearts and discover their blocks to vulnerability and safe connection.

Therapists will learn to guide clients out of content dead ends and away from focusing on their partner’s triggering behaviour, to look within. As part of this training, you will discover your own blocks to taking clients deeper and ways to move past them.

Outcome research shows time and time again that working in present process and bringing clients into an experience that takes them into an experience of emotional depth is essential for change in psychotherapy. Therefore, learning to be more effective in engaging unacknowledged emotional experiences and the material that emerges moment-to-moment in session is crucial. Get the skills necessary to actively use these processes to facilitate change by helping raise clients’ awareness of their internal and external patterns of regulating emotions and relating to others.

Regardless of your EFT training level whether you have yet to have any or are an experienced EFT clinician this training will benefit any therapist working systemically with both couples and individuals. In fact, no prior EFT training is required to attend.
Video demonstrations and experiential exercises will be used to model and practice using present process in action.

Learning objectives:
1.     Explain therapeutic presence in psychotherapy
2.     Demonstrate the somatic experience of emotion within emotionally focused couple therapy
3.     Identify how clients engage with their own felt experience instead of focusing on content or their partner’s triggering behaviour
4.     Recognize one’s own blocks as a therapist that arise in the present process that hinder staying present
5.     Identify both therapist and client emotional expression and demonstrate how each is related to outcome

Testimonials:
“I learned so much on how to hold the moment emotionally with my client!”
“I feel more at ease with being present with my clients wherever they are, joining them and honoring their emotional experience.”
“An incredible experiential event. I learnt so much and am looking forward to future workshops.”
