Understanding Transgenerational Transmission of Collective Trauma: An Introduction for The Emotionally Focused Therapist

Event Date:

December 8, 2023

Event Time:

2:00 pm

Event Location:

Abbotsford Convent

This is an in-person workshop and it will not be recorded.

One of the goals of working with couples or individuals, using the EFT model, is to help each partner get in touch with their vulnerable emotions. Achieving this goal is particularly difficult when partners have past trauma. If the trauma is from a previous generation, it is even harder for the client to connect to themself and explore the impact of that trauma. Judith Kellner, LCSW and ICEEFT Certified EFT Supervisor, will demonstrate how this past trauma emerges in the life of future generations, how it plays out in intimate relationships, and how to help clients stay with their emotions once the vulnerability is touched.

Clinical examples (Sessions Video) from the presenter’s work will be introduced through
the presentation.

Workshop Objectives:
Goal: Teach the Radioactivity of Collective Intergenerational Trauma

  • Clarify what is collective trauma and its transmission between generations.
  • How to identify trauma that it is not the clients.
  • How does trauma manifest itself in second and third generation.
  • Demonstrate how EFT works when both or the individual struggle with the
    emotional inheritance of collective trauma.
  • How Resilience looks like when break the legacy.
