Adrian Harris a dedicated mental health social worker and qualified Family Therapist, and accredited emotion focused couple therapist (EFCT) endorsed by the international centre for emotion focused therapy (ICEFT). Adrian is also the co-vice president of the Melbourne Centre for EFT (MCEFT).
With extensive experience as a manager and clinical supervisor in a not-for-profit family relationship service, Adrian is committed to providing compassionate support and guidance. Adrian recently presented at the Family Relationship Services conference in Melbourne, showcasing our ongoing commitment to excellence in family therapy.
Drawing on advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy, Adrian specialises in helping couples repair disconnection, navigate conflict, and rebuild secure, resilient bonds. His approach blends evidence‑based interventions with a deep respect for each client’s lived experience, cultural context, and relational patterns. He is known for translating complex emotional processes into accessible, compassionate guidance that supports meaningful and lasting change.
Adrian is the founder of Harris Counselling, where he offers individual therapy, couple therapy, family support, and organisational consultation. His work is shaped by a commitment to safety, equity, and relational wellbeing, and by a belief that people thrive when they feel connected, valued, and supported.
Adrian has dedicated his career to supporting children and young people, beginning as a youth worker in 1999 within the Victorian youth justice system. His extensive experience includes roles in family services, specialist case management in child protection and youth homelessness outreach. A fully qualified and accredited mental health social worker, Adrian earned an honours degree in social work from Monash University in 2009.
