I am a registered counsellor with special interest in relationships, childhood trauma, attachment injury, family violence, parenting, couples and family therapy, and holistic healing.
My journey began, as most therapists, with my own struggles that led to curiosity of the human mind, behaviour, relationships, emotions and finding meaning in life. My personal journey has helped me learn how important relationships shape our identity and how we can get stuck in dysfunctional ways of dealing with life challenges. Relationships are one of the most important aspects of our lives that can be either a source of joy and stability or can be a source of distress or even trauma. Relationship (with self and others) is the area I have explored the most and would like to assist my clients to heal and to rebuild.
I have learned throughout the years as a counsellor, mother, wife, friend and daughter, a way of approaching life that helps us to maintain peace and joy no matter the circumstances. It is possible to maintain balance and to stay grounded not only during peaceful times but in the mist of challenges and tragedy. We can only achieve this through healing and achieving growth that strengthen us.
Qualifications & Experiences
I have been working in private practice since 2013 and have also worked for Safe Steps Family Violence Response Centre as a trauma specialist counsellor supporting people impacted by family violence and sexual assault. I currently divide my time in group practice as couples counsellor and trauma counsellor for victims of crime while continuing with my private practice. My internships were at a primary school and Odyssey House Kids In Focus program. In another life, I was also a community interpreter and conference interpreter in Korean and English. Community work includes teaching children and adolescents at church for twenty years, and board member of Korean Language School Melbourne. I also somehow find the time to play in two amazing orchestras, Stonnington Symphony and Heidelberg Symphony Orchestra.
